Hours Of Operation
Bowie Nature Park is open from Sunrise to Sunset. It is
unlawful for any person to occupy the park after hours without
permission from the Parks Department.

PARK RULES
-
Vehicles are restricted to designated roads and parking areas only.
-
Motorized vehicles permitted on paved or
gravel roads only.
-
The speed limit is 18 miles per hour on
all roads in the park with the exception of the road in front of the
playground, which is 10 miles per hour.
-
No alcoholic beverages allowed on park
property.
-
No dumping or littering on park property.
-
All pets must be on a leash or tether at all times.
-
No weapons or firearms allowed on park
property.
-
No hunting allowed on park
property.
-
No swimming allowed on park
property.
-
No boating allowed in park without written permission from the Parks Department.
-
Riding on closed trails can result in a citation.
-
Cutting or timber prohibited except by permission of the City Manager,
Park Director.
-
Fires in designated areas only - picnic areas and picnic shelters.
-
Fishing is allowed, except where
prohibited by sign.
-
Removal of plants is prohibited.
-
Disturbing habitat of animals prohibited.

TRAIL
USE RULES
The following activities are restricted to trail conditions:
NO EXCEPTIONS
Mountain Biking and Horseback Riding

The trails are closed to these activities due to
wet conditions or for visitor safety. Openings and closings are at Park
Directors and Park Rangers discretion.

It is the riders responsibility to check the sign
at the park entrance or call (615)799-5544 Ext 1 to check the status of the
trails.
TRAIL
USE FEE, [for each bicycle
and each horse]:
*Riding on closed trails can result in a
citation.
TRAIL RESTRICTIONS
-
Only trails on the *“Official” Bowie Nature Park Trail Map are
sanctioned trails that can be used by equestrians and mountain bikers.
-
All trails are open to day hikers.
-
It is the responsibility of the rider to
check trail status. Riding on closed trails can result in a
citation.

Stay on trails - use of illegal cut throughs and blazing of trails can
result in a citation
-
Avoid mud holes
-
All bridges are “Foot Traffic Only”.
-
No riding down the slope of
the earthen dams.
-
Pets must be on a leash at all times while riding.
-
Groups of 15 or more must check in with the Park Office at
(615) 799-5544
-
Bicycles always yield to other non-motorized traffic
-
Any person operating a bicycle under the age of (16) must wear a
protective helmet per T. C. A. 55-52-105
TRAIL
CLOSURES
The trails are closed
to mountain biking and horseback riding at Park Director’s and Park
Ranger’s discretion in order to protect the integrity of the trail
system, the park’s natural resources and for public safety during
special events. Riding on closed trails can result in a citation.
It is the users
responsibility to check the sign at the park entrance or call
(615)799-2484 Ext. 820.
Creating cut-throughs,
bootlegging trails and blazing of un-sanctioned trails is unauthorized
and can result in a citation.
If you are
unfamiliar with Bowie Nature Park’s Trail system please read all trail
signs and/or consult the “Official” Bowie Nature Park Trail Map located
on the bulletin board before
riding.
